We packed a suitcase, a 12 pack of assorted Idle Cellars wine and hopped on the easy 36 hour flight back to a favorite destination of ours, Capetown South Africa.  Post wine harvest and Christmas holiday, the weather and the work start to weigh down on a winemaker so making a trip to the southern hemisphere and summer time is the perfect destination.  Having been coming down here for a decade now every few years, we have a great community of friends, chefs, artists, musicians and winemakers who all come down here between November and March for the same reason; to relax.  With our cell phones never leaving us alone, our email accounts all full and the constant energy spent in our everyday lives we need to find time to enjoy the simple things; eat, drink, hang out and idle.  For the next month we’ll be eating at great restaurants around the Cape, cooking South African dishes, drinking tons of wine and running around this beautiful place.  Here’s the first wine related photo taken in Africa.  When we opened our 12 pack of assorted Idle Cellars it was actually an eleven pack.  Some one nicked one bottle somewhere between San Francisco, London and Capetown.  This is the most random bottle of Idle Cellars probably drunk.  Who ever has it, cheers!
