It is Memorial Day and as we all set out to fire up the grill and enjoy the end of a long weekend we want to make sure you have all the right ingredients for an Idle Memorial Day.

Item 1: Pork Ribs with a cinnamon rub and teriyaki marinade.

An Idle favorite, it is rare for us to fire up the grill without some ribs on hand. While chicken, veggies, steak, and Aidell’s Chicken Apple Sausage can be thrown on for a nice mixed grill, the “Pièce de resistance” for our yearly memorial day celebration is always the ribs. We have gotten it down to an art form and if you are lucky, Ari might share his special recipe with you one day.

Item 2: A side of greens

When we are eating food straight off the grill with a drink in hand, it is always nice to have a delicious salad to compliment the meat and make for a nice balanced meal. While we always make sure to grill up some vegetables, it is good to have something our veggie friends can appreciate and indulge in more fully.

Item 3: Guacamole and Chips

While everyone is waiting for the food to grill it is essential to have something for them to munch on. Our all time favorite is of course, delicious homemade guacamole. It is amazing what you can do with some ripe avocados, a little lemon or lime juice, salt, pepper, paprika, and a little tomato and onion. We like to call it perfection for the palette.

Item 4: Fruit Salad

The perfect dessert for a hot day, a fresh fruit salad is both delicious and nutritious. Plus, it makes for a nice display.

Item 5: The most important of all, a nice chilled bottle of Idle Cellars.

This year we are sipping on our Sauvignon Blanc and the 2012 Viognier. We hope you have some Idle in your cooler this year, but whatever you are sipping and munching on, have a very Happy and Idle Memorial Day!
