We love Sangiovese at Idle Cellars.  In 2008 we made our first and only vintage of the acidic, fruity easy drinking grape and have this year decided to bring it back.  After a few years of searching, we finally found a vineyard we wanted to work with; Speedy Creek Vineyard in the Knights Valley.  Set in a valley on a hill, the hard to get to vineyard looks over the Knights Valley.  The block of Sangiovese on the property produces around 15 tons of fruit and we’re making 3 of them hoping for 150 cases.  We’re shooting for that smooth, acidic easy drinking appetizer wine.  Hopefully the great weather will continue in Sonoma County and this will be one of the best vintages of the decade.  Here are a few photos the vineyard.
