2014 Sangiovese

Speedy Creek Vineyard, Knights Valley

Your head starts to relax
as the firstcourse is being cleared.

The eleventh oyster was by far the best.
Friends laughing, the mood is serene.

 

You look up and find the server
bringing another bottle of nectar.
Generous glasses are filled.
As you sip your smooth Sangiovese,
pleasure fills your soul
and time becomes irrelevant.

2015 Petite Sirah

Kick Ranch Vineyard, Sonoma County

The last box was unloaded off of the moving truck.
They sureyed their new home,
with all of the transferred items from an old life.
The transition was a natural one.
Before the unpacking was to begin,
a toast was in order.

 

The special bottle was removed
from the box marked “fragile”.
Cork screw was dug out from another.
Glasses were poured full
as we saluted our upcoming endeavor.

2019 Chardonnay

Elieo Vineyard, Russian River Valley

She melted more deeply into him
as he lit the candle, setting her first sunset picnic aglow.

The evening air washed over their rectangular stage
and she reclined into his embrace.

 

He indulged her palate with gourmet bites,
while lost in conversation in each other gaze.
They sipped golden nectar amid summer fireflies
and they just knew.

2019 Grenache

Kick Ranch Vineyard, Sonoma County

The tips of the fire reached for the stars
as another log was upon the campfire.
The tents were on the campsite’s
outer circle on the flat meadow,
the chairs closer to the fire pit.

 

Some sat, some stood.

Each of us holding the same wine
in a different sized vessel.
Aftera long day of traveling, setting up camp,
we watched the beauty of caveman tv.

 

A refreshing escape from the city to nature

was what we all needed.
An Idle weekend to revitalize the being.

2014 Merlot

Los Chamizal Vineyard, Sonoma Valley

Watching the storm roll in from the valley,
the jazz music grooved
with the echoing sounds from outside.
We made ourselves comfortable
for the lightening show,
glasses of deep red wine in hand.

 


A taste followed each thunderclap.
Hints of emerald  blue sky were in the distance,
expanding with fervor
and pushing the storm over the rooftops
to the east.
Another bottle sat, waiting to be opened
for the calm after the storm.
