Sangiovese
2013
A King’s table filled with overflowing food as every mix-matched chair is occupied with people from the unconventional life. Breathing in strawberry, violet, floral, earthy aromas to start your experience. A medium acidity exists throughout the rich flavors of red cherries, fresh tea leaves, plum, vanilla. A dry fruit-forward wine with medium tannins. Pairs well with strong cheeses, never-ending pasta dishes, roasted poultry and pizza parties.

Good things come to those who are idle. Since 2008, we have been searching for a Sangiovese Vineyard that not only produces top end fruit but also has an owner who we get along with. Making wine from independent vineyards is about the relationship. All parties need to be happy, balancing in the giving and getting. Dave Burton and his Speedy Creek Vineyard in Knight’s Valley, overlook the valley of Napa, where the morning fog rests and late afternoon sun shines amongst the vines.  He found the property and planted every vine over 25 years ago. The trust is there.  The fruit was hand picked, hand sorted and cold soaked on Sept 19th, 2013. three days of cold soak, followed by inoculation. 2 weeks of slow fermentation, with 3 punch downs a day and a two-hour press cycle. Barreled down 2 days later into French Oak barrels, 30% new. A smooth ride that will balance out any heavy meal.
