Wine tasting during harvest

Wine tasting in the cave during punchdowns.  Eric and I just tried the 2009 Ladi's Syrah.  It was tasting a little funky about 3 months ago so we racked it.  10 weeks after the racking its totally come back together and tastes delicious.  The Grenache which we are going to blend into the Syrah lifted up the strawberry fruit quality and adds great mouth feel to the front palate.  We have the 2010 Kick Ranch Syrah fermenting next to the barreled 09 Ladi's Syrah, we like to think that the wines are teaching themselves how to taste amazing.

Just took a sip of the 09 Los Chamazal Cabernet, so jammy and delicious.  We could almost bottle it right now.  We have the 2008 in the bottle so it will be interesting to see how the wine differs from the same vineyard.  We have a couple barrels of the 2009 Los Chamazal Cab Franc, just took a sip of it, tastes earthy and dark.  It brings out the back palate tremendously and wakes up the sense in my belly.  The 2 of them together should be a full balanced cab.  Just got a piece of feedback on the 09 cab from the enologist here chocolates and boysenberry with consistent style.
